Part of the process of having a Medium Term Plan is to have some idea of what to do in the future. There are two events on the horizon. These are:
The London Olympics 2012
and, more importantly, HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. That is 60 years of her reign.
What is Huntingdonshire District Council or St Neots Town Council going to do to celebrate both or either event? I don't know and I'm sure they don't know either. Because now is the last time any significant decision can be taken on whether to celebrate both or either of these events. With the budgets being formulated for 2011/12 either the Councils are going to do something or they aren't going to do anything or something really paltry.
Wouldn't it be fitting to move the Festival from the end of August to the bank holiday on the first weekend of June. And have a proper parade instead of a carnival!
The decisions need to be made now rather than the week before!
