Planning Appeal Allowed over homes in Eynesbury: UPDATE

On page 13, the News and Crier reports the win by Wimpey Homes over the decision by HDC not to allow the planning application. I did a short report earlier this week. Whilst HDC planning was "clearly disappointed" the scheme is going ahead. What does concern me was what Cllr Jenny Bird, Chairman of SNTC Planning committee said about this decision. She said:

"In was delighted that HDC backed the Town Council in attempting to restrict this development."
Well HDC didn't. As I pointed out in a different article "Town Council Planning Committee is a JOKE!" HDC did NOT back the Town Council.

"I can only assume the appeal went against us because pressure from central government to fit in as many houses as possible in our towns regardless of the consequences."

I feel Cllr Bird made the wrong assumption. The appeal went against HDC because the Inspector felt differently about the development. In all the reasons HDC gave for not allowing the development the amount of housing was NOT given as a reason.
