Djanogly and his Legg letter

Jonathan Djanogly was found to be mixed up in the expenses scandal that engulfed Parliament. To his credit he paid back £25,000 to the House of Commons authority. He is also not currently claiming his second home allowance as you can find out here.

The problems I have with Djanogly are not necessarily the expenses that he claimed. The problems I have is over the publication of information and our ability to question Djanogly over his claims. I feel I cannot hold Djanogly to account because Djanogly hasn't held a public meeting open to all the electors. Nor have I had much information. Much of the information published has been blacked out.

His Legg letter is a classic example of news management. We are informed by Djanogly that he has already paid back more cash (£25,000) to the House of Commons than the total expenses queried by Sir Thomas Legg.

How do we know this? No evidence has been produced to back up his assertion about his letter for Legg. The only evidence that this is the true state of affairs is Djanogly's word. I feel too much has gone on to trust Djanogly over this. Djanogly must publish his Legg letter and any correspondence that results.

Other MPs have published their Legg letters. John Hemmings MP is one. His letter is reproduced on the left hand side.

There is nothing to stop Djanogly from publishing his Legg letter and any correspondence. Only Djanogly wants to keep this highly embarrassing letter under wraps because I feel he doesn't want us to know the contents. If we don't know the information, how can be ask Djanogly the really meaningful questions?

In a few months time Djanogly will be asking for your votes. I wanted to vote Conservative to get rid of this rotten Labour Government. Now, in protest, I will be voting for Jennifer O'Dell, the UKIP candidate.
